Simple Oven-Fried Tilapia
Ingredients
For the Tilapia
- Butter-flavored or olive oil cooking spray, for the baking sheet
- 1 to 1 1/2 pounds tilapia fillets
For the Coating
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup plain breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 teaspoon Creole seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
For the Egg Wash
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk, or light cream
- 2 to 3 tablespoons melted unsalted butter, optional
Garnish
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.

In a shallow dish, combine the flour, breadcrumbs, cornmeal, Creole seasoning, salt, parsley, and thyme.

In another shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.

Dip each tilapia fillet in the egg mixture, then dredge in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.

Place the coated tilapia fillets on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and the coating is golden brown.
