Reuben-ish sandwich
Ingredients
For the sandwich
- 4 slices rye bread
- 200g pastrami
- 200g sauerkraut, squeezed dry
- 4 dill pickles, thinly sliced
- 100g Swiss cheese, sliced
- 50g butter, softened
For the Russian dressing
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp horseradish sauce
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp lemon juice

To make the Russian dressing, combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well.

Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.

Turn 2 slices of bread over and spread with Russian dressing.

Layer with pastrami, sauerkraut, pickles and Swiss cheese.

Top with the remaining slices of bread, butter-side up.

Heat a large frying pan over a medium heat.

Fry the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden and the cheese has melted.

Cut in half and serve immediately.
