Beef & Black Bean Burger with Chilli Mayo & Wombok Slaw
Ingredients
Burger
- 500g Coles 5 Star beef mince
- 1 1/2 tbsp black bean sauce
- 1 tsp fresh minced garlic
- 2 tsp fresh minced ginger
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tsp sesame seeds
Wombok Slaw
- 1/2 wombok or Chinese cabbage, finely sliced
- 2 small carrots, finely sliced
- 15g punnet (1/2 bunch) fresh coriander, leaves and stalks, roughly chopped
Chilli Mayo
- 1/4 cup Kewpie mayonnaise or whole egg mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp chilli sauce (optional)
- 2 tsp soy sauce
Assembly
- 1 large ripe tomato, thickly sliced
- 4 Coles bakery soft round rolls, split open
Instructions
- 1
Preheat fan-forced oven to 180°C (200°C conventional)
- 2
Combine beef mince, black bean sauce, garlic, ginger and sesame oil in a large bowl with your clean hands, working the mixture really well for a few minutes, to develop the protein in the meat so that the beef patties hold together.
- 3
Shape into four large beef patties, the same size as the bread rolls.
- 4
Spray a large frying pan with oil. Place over high heat. Cook patties for 5 minutes on each side. When cooked sprinkle liberally with sesame seeds on both sides. Set aside.
10 min - 5
To make the wombok slaw, place wombok, carrots and coriander in a bowl. Mix mayonnaise, chilli sauce and soy sauce in another bowl. Before serving add dressing to slaw.
- 6
Place bread buns on baking tray and toast for a few minutes on each side to crisp up slightly and warm through.
- 7
To serve, place remaining mayonnaise mixture on the bun (optional), top with a thick slice of tomato, a generous amount of wombok slaw and top with a beef burger. Serve immediately.
