Sloppy Joe
Ingredients
For the sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
- 500g beef mince
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 200g tinned chopped tomatoes
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp cider vinegar
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
To serve
- 4 burger buns, halved
- A few sprigs of fresh coriander, roughly chopped (optional)
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the beef mince and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.

Stir in the tomato puree, chopped tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, smoked paprika, cumin, chilli powder and cayenne pepper (if using).

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.

Spoon the beef mixture into the burger buns and top with fresh coriander (if using).
