Apple Cheddar Waffle Sandwich

Ingredients
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard (full grain)
- 1 tbsp breakfast syrup
- 2 waffles (leftover homemade or store-bought. If using frozen store-bought, cook prior to making your sandwich.)
- 1/4 cup Borden Cheese Thick Cut Shreds, Mild or Sharp Cheddar (divided)
- 1/2 apple (thinly sliced)
Instructions
- 1
Preheat a counter griddle (panini press) such as a foreman grill to medium heat. Spray with nonstick spray (I like coconut oil).
- 2
Mix together the dijon and syrup in a small bowl. Set aside.
- 3
Lay the waffles side by side and place half of syrup mixture onto the inside of each piece.
- 4
On the waffle that will be the bottom of the sandwich, sprinkle half the cheese, onto the syrup.
- 5
Layer the apple slices over the cheese.
- 6
Sprinkle the remaining cheese. Cover with the other waffle, sauce side down.
- 7
Add the sandwich to the griddle and close sandwich inside. Cook for 5 minutes or until waffles are toasted and cheese is fully melted.
5 min - 8
Cut sandwich in two and serve. Enjoy!
